TATA Steel will have 68 Apprenticeship opportunities available across 3 South Wales sites, with approximately 50 positions based in Port Talbot, 9 in Trostre (Llanelli) and the remaining 9 in Llanwern. The Apprenticeship opportunities wll be split between Engineering, Technical and Manufacturing and the successful applicants will be required to attend College on a full time basis for the first year and then on a day release basis for the following 2 or 3 years. (Bridgend College for Port Talbot and Coleg Sir Gar for Trostre). Applicants need to have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grades C or above to include Maths, English Language and Science. The wage is to be confirmed but is expected to be around the £10,000/£10,500 mark.

TATA Steel will also have 36 Higher Apprenticeship opportunities available between Port Talbot and Llanwern. Positions will be split between Engineering, Manufacturing, Technical and Finance (x5). Minimum criteria is yet to be confirmed but in the past it has been a minimum of 2 A Levels. Again the wage for these positions hasn’t been confirmed but is expected to be around the £15,000 mark.

On the 6th of January these positions will be advertised on the Apprenticeship Matching Service with a link to the TATA Steel website, as applicants will have to complete TATA’s application form. The closing date is again to be confirmed but is expected to be in mid February.
